What are the principles of designing a modern small garden?
Owners of small plots often ask: how do you design a small garden so it looks luxurious? At skwer.pl I show that the key to a premium effect is not extravagance, but thoughtful structure and the highest quality of execution.
1. How to design a small garden to a premium standard?
In a small space, any excess creates chaos. To make a garden look refined, I limit the material palette. I usually choose at most three textures: for example architectural concrete, natural wood, and dark stone (basalt). The consistency I applied on Nektarowa Street in Szczecin helps the space feel larger visually.
2. Architectural plant structure
I treat plants like sculptures. Instead of many small species, I use strong accents: multi-stem trees (false indigo, Japanese maple) or grass monocultures (needle grass) that look exclusive against raw architecture.
3. Should you use garden lighting?
Nothing builds a sense of luxury — and intrigue — as effectively as light. I use linear lighting under seating and spotlights on trunks and tree canopies. I also light bamboo groves. That way the garden becomes an integral part of the living room at any time of day and all year round.
4. Details and logistics
In premium design, respect for detail counts. Instead of plastic edging I use steel strips. I choose bark or gravel fractions precisely so the ground cover is a feature in itself. I draw on experience from large projects such as Browar Folga and Branicki Palace, ensuring every element lasts.
