Warsaw, Branicki Palace
Public Spaces | 2021
An example of my work on the historical fabric is the revitalization of the greenery of the Baroque courtyard of Branicki Palace in Warsaw. In collaboration with the SAS Architekci studio and under the supervision of the Heritage Conservator, we created a design that restores the elegance of the Baroque residence, adapting it to the contemporary demands of a prestigious urban space and an upscale hotel.
Key design solutions:
- Biological durability: The use of Japanese holly (Ilex crenata) as a resilient alternative to the historical boxwood, allowing the precise pattern of the Baroque arabesques to be preserved with full phytosanitary safety.
- Dialogue with modernity: The introduction of vertical accents in the form of bamboo clumps, which, growing from the level of the modern atria (lighting the SPA zone), connect the Baroque ground floor with the building's new function.
