Szczecin-Zdroje, Hahs Implantology & Orthodontics Clinic – Winter Garden: Architecture of Calm and Dialogue with Tradition
Public Spaces | 2019
A project for an intimate public space, whose primary goal was to create a soothing atmosphere that calms the emotions of patients. The central point and inspiration for the entire concept was an original, heavy interwar-era sideboard.
- Design and Craft: Through collaboration with a local joinery workshop, the historical oak piece underwent a bespoke metamorphosis – a graphite paint finish gave it a modern character, making it the heart of the orangery.
- Plant Structure: The species selection evokes the atmosphere of old spa palm houses. Tall palms, bamboos, and skimmias together create an atmospheric microclimate.
- Durability and Detail: Specially designed frames made from exotic Iroko wood ensure moisture resistance, providing a stable structure for the evergreen climbing plants.
- Function: The winter garden became an integral part of the clinic – an atmospheric relaxation zone that redefines the concept of a waiting room, turning it into a private sanctuary.
