Bielik Residence, Międzyzdroje | Aesthetic revitalization and a "green suit" for architecture

Public Spaces | 2018

The project consisted of the cohesive integration of a newly built villa with an adapted building of spa heritage. My task was to give the whole a prestigious character and introduce privacy within a densely developed urban area.

  • Metamorphosis of Space: I elevated the aesthetics of the former guesthouse by introducing avenue trees and grasses with a coastal character, which seamlessly complemented the existing vegetation.
  • Intimacy in the City: In response to the challenge of a tight, urbanized plot, I applied "green screens". Using ready-made panels of evergreen ivy and shaped screen trees (common hornbeams), private zones were created for the ground-floor terraces.
  • Year-round Structure: Through the use of evergreen climbers and semi-climbers (including Japanese spindle), both buildings gained a year-round green framework that conceals the imperfections of the surroundings and builds the prestige of the place.
  • Result: Maximum saturation of a challenging urban space with greenery, creating a cohesive and "tailor-made" image for both residences.
